Priya Sarma- Editor-in-Chief of The Progressive Teen
The Editor-in-Chief of The Progressive Teen manages HSDA’s national publication. They determine the main topics of the week and assist the section editors with proof-reading articles.
Priya is a rising senior at Sunset High school in Portland, OR. An IB Diploma candidate, she has been an avid participant in the global and domestic political and developmental issues from a very early age. Before becoming the Editor –in –Chief for TPT, Priya served as its analysis editor. She is the Vice Chair of Oregon High School Democrats and was responsible for creating the high school phone bank in Portland for Hillary Clinton in the last presidential election along with other campaign activities. Outside of HSDA, Priya serves as ASB Diversity Director of her school. Priya is a varsity tennis player for five years in a row, enjoys classical music and plays the piano and has traveled extensively. Priya’s writings have been published internationally and she earned accolades in national level essay competitions, most notable being the one organized by American Foreign Service Association for her essay on the Syrian refugee crisis.
