OUR IMPACT

HSDA empowers and encourages students to take on an active role in the fight for Democratic victories across the country. In addition to fostering civil discourse among those with opposing viewpoints, HSDA provides a platform for members to impact the political process in a substantive way and make their voices heard on a national level.

NBC 26

“A senior at Denmark High School, Henry Pahlow, was invited to meet President Joe Biden at the White House and sit in on a speech this past weekend.

Pahlow is currently serving as the vice president for the High School Democrats of America…

This past weekend Henry was invited into the White House where he personally met President Biden and listened to the president give a speech on gun violence.”

“Joining Voters of Tomorrow formally supporting Biden is NextGen PAC, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Blue Future, Jr. Newtown Action Alliance, Path to Progress, Students Demand Action, Team ENOUGH, Voices of Gen-Z and Dream for America. They are doing so with more traditional, party-aligned youth organizations, the Young Democrats of America, College Democrats of America, Democratic Youth Coalition, Grassroots Dems HQ and High School Democrats of America.”

TEEN VOGUE

“Kenna, 16, is a junior at Lawrence High School and the vice chair of Kansas High School Democrats (KSHSD). Since the spring, she and Lyle Griggs, chair of KSHSD, have been campaigning for physician Barbara Bollier (pronounced bowl-yay), who is running for election to the U.S. Senate in November.

The race between Bollier and her Republican opponent Roger Marshall is currently neck and neck. A win for Bollier would represent a sea change for Kansas, which hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1932, and, of course, for the Democratic Party’s bid for control of the Senate.”

STAR TRIBUNE

“Murray, a 20-year-old Tufts University junior, has stayed active since founding her school’s chapter of the High School Democrats of America, which fosters youth activism on the left. “I feel that my exposure with grassroots organizations has really just solidified my belief in the power of the youth vote and all the voices that have been historically underrepresented in this country,” Murray said.
