The Biggest Domestic Issues Facing Biden in 2024

We are less than a year out from the 2024 election, and campaigning is starting to pick up. President Biden has begun attending campaign fundraisers in cities all over the country such as Los Angeles, Boston, and Philadelphia. According to a Gallup poll, Biden’s approval stands at 37%, which is tied for his losing rating of his Presidency. Let’s take a closer look at the issues Biden faces as he tries to win votes from the American People.

The Economy

According to Bloomberg, the economy is the top issue for swing-state voters, particularly the price of everyday goods and services, according to a new poll, while 83% of respondents say the state of the economy is important in determining who to vote for. In addition, a Emerson College poll found that 44% of respondents under the age of 30 say the economy is the biggest issue for them.

Abortion

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Republicans have taken advantage of the ruling by enacting abortion bans in their states. This was used to the Democrats’ advantage in 2022, as it led to smaller gains than projected. The Biden campaign is planning to use abortion rights at the center of its message. 

Democracy/Bipartisanship

A poll from the Bipartisan Policy Center found that four in five voters (82%) say they are worried about the state of American Democracy. This includes equal percentages from both parties. The same poll also found that while 67% of voters say that bipartisanship in Congress is important, 59% of voters believe members of each party won’t cross the aisle.

In conclusion, there are many issues facing our country as the 2024 election gets closer. The Biden campaign needs to get its message out to voters and be as clear as possible.
